QI Education
Professor Don Berwick influential report, A Promise to Learn a Commitment to Act (2013), makes recommendations for the NHS, to make change at scale by creating the capacity and capability for quality improvement across and at every level of the workforce. He advocates that the NHS should become a learning organisation where:
“the mastery of quality and patient safety sciences and practices should be part of initial preparation and lifelong education of all health care professionals, including managers and executives”
NHS Tayside has demonstrated its commitment to creating capability, capacity and confidence for quality improvement, through its ongoing investment in QI education, training and support for staff.
The Improvement Team works in partnership with others, to develop staff in Tayside to be Improvers; people for whom improvement is an intrinsic part of their working lives, who act and think differently, who are constantly curious about better ways of doing things, who share and test ideas, while motivating and mobilising others.
In support of this ambition the Improvement Team provides a comprehensive educational offering which includes accredited and non-accredited education and training opportunities.
