Tayside Clinical Trials Unit

Tayside Clinical Trials Unit (TCTU) was established in 2008 as a collaboration of the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside. TCTU's role is to provide support and services to investigators with the aim of improving the success and quality of studies. TCTU can provide support with study design, protocol development, trial management, data management, analysis and onto publication.

TCTU supports clinical trials of CTIMPs, non-CTIMPS and complex intervention studies across a spectrum of disease indication and patient populations. As well as supporting studies sponsored locally, TCTU supports studies with external sponsors as well as supporting studies recruiting across the UK, EU and Australia. A choice of support service is available for investigators, tailored to the level of support required, ranging from data management systems or statistical analysis through to full trial design and management.

TCTU was given provisional registration by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) in 2009 and full registration in 2012 and again in 2017. TCTU has supported its host organisations through 3 regulatory sponsor inspections (2009, 2011 and 2014) and was successfully inspected in its own right as a clinical trials unit in 2017.
