EoSRES

The East of Scotland Research Ethics Service (EoSRES)

The East of Scotland Research Ethics Service is part of the UK wide NHS ethics service and accepts applications from across the UK. Governance of the UK NHS REC system is provided by the Health Research Authority (https://www.hra.nhs.uk). In Scotland, the REC service is managed through four regional nodes which report both to the HRA and to the Chief Scientist Office (CSO) (http://www.nhsresearchscotland.org.uk/services/research-ethics).

The East of Scotland Research Ethics service provides administrative and other support to two NHS Research Ethics Committees and covers the Health Boards of NHS Tayside, NHS Fife and NHS Forth Valley. In addition, the East of Scotland Research Ethics service works closely with academic organisations based in the East of Scotland region including the University of Dundee, University of St. Andrews, Abertay University and the University of Stirling.

EoSRES supports researchers through the REC application process and throughout the duration of their study. The Scientific Officer provides guidance on request to all applicants seeking NHS ethical review.

EoSRES encourages applicants to attend meetings in person where feasible and also offers attendance via telephone and Skype. Please contact the EoSRES team  to arrange.

Cut off dates for application submission is 2 weeks before the scheduled REC meeting date. Please contact the EoSRES team for information about cut off and meeting dates.
