Ninewells Emergency Department wins award for Best Patient Experience Project 2018

Congratulations to Ninewells Emergency Department for winning the Royal College of Emergency Medicine Award for Best Patient Experience Project of the Year 2018.

The award is for work that the department carried out in association with the University of Dundee Medical School and College of Art and Design, and built on the feedback provided by staff and patients in the department.  New patient journey infographics were produced so patients can understand how the department works, what to expect and which healthcare professional they are talking to.  New signage was also created to ensure patients can easily find their way around the department.

Emergency Consultant Shobhan Thakore said, “This is great news and is national recognition of the commitment we show to providing an excellent experience for patients in our department. It also shows how our continued quality improvement work in collaboration with the University is leading to positive innovation.”
