£1.6m Cancer Scanner for Clinical Research Centre Tayside

10th July, 2008

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon announced Scottish Government funding of £1.68m to provide a state-of-the-art scanner (PET-CT) that detects and tracks cancer growths. The scanner will be situated in the Clinical Research Centre Tayside which already has a large purpose built room. At the moment seriously ill patients who require PET-CT scanning have to travel to Aberdeen. Dundee is the only place in Europe offering sophisticated scanning side by side with an operating theatre.
