QI Clinics

Staff in Tayside who need some support to improve the quality of service they deliver, can access advice and guidance from NHS Tayside's Improvement Team through Quality Improvement (QI) Clinics.

“a brain to pick, and ear to listen and a push in the right direction”

Who are QI Clinics for?

QI clinics have been designed to support the improvement efforts of Health and Social Care staff in Tayside. This includes staff from all levels and from all areas in Tayside.

Both individuals and teams can access a QI Clinic appointment.

What is a QI Clinic Appointment?

A QI Clinic appointment is a meeting between a requester and an Improvement Advisor from the Improvement Team. The appointment is arranged at a mutually agreeable time and place. The QI clinic appointment will take up to 60 minutes. This is a one off meeting.

The QI Clinic appointment can be face to face, over the telephone or can make use of teleconferencing facilities.

Some examples of support that Improvement Advisors can help with during QI clinic appointments are:

  • getting started with your improvement work,
  • securing buy-in and engagement,
  • planning tests of change,
  • defining measures,
  • exploring barriers to improvement and
  • seeking new perspectives and solutions.

What QI Clinics are not!

QI Clinics do not represent a commitment from either party to enter into a long term support arrangement. Neither is it a way of commissioning the Improvement Team to support new or ongoing improvement work, beyond the one hour period of the QI clinic appointment.
