EoSRES

East of Scotland Research Ethics Service (EoSRES)

The service provides the administration support for two Research Ethics Committees (RECs), two Sub-committees and two Proportionate Review Committees.  The service is heavily involved in providing pre and post application advice, as well as assisting/supporting researchers through the REC application process and for the duration of their research career.  EoSRES spans 3 Health Boards, NHS Fife, NHS Forth Valley and NHS Tayside, working closely with their partner academic institutions: the University of Abertay, Dundee, Stirling and St Andrews.

In addition to research studies requiring full ethical review by an NHS REC, EoSRES provides advice on projects e.g. clinical audit, service development, service evaluation, surveillance and usual practice.  Our advice is given in a formal letter that aims to satisfy journal editors should researchers wish to publish their results at any time in the future.
