Tayside Consultant Dr Tom Fardon awarded Scottish Thoracic Society Medal

Congratulations to Consultant Physician Dr Tom Fardon who was awarded the inaugural Scottish Thoracic Society (STS) Andrew Douglas Medal at the STS Annual Meeting in Glasgow.

 

The medal is awarded to a senior clinician or healthcare professional who has made a significant contribution to the society and respiratory medicine in Scotland.  Criteria includes leadership in a specialist area, national or international engagement, leadership in medical education, and/or research excellence.

 

Dr Fardon was recognised for his work with managed clinical networks in Scotland, as Chair of the Scottish National Advisory Group for Respiratory Medicine, as lead respiratory clinician for the Scottish Government Respiratory Improvement Plan and as part of a cross party working group on lung health.  He has also supported the STS for many years as a trainee representative, registrar, ordinary member and currently as secretary of council.
