2nd annual PhD Residential Event

University of Edinburgh
17-19th May 2011
(Full info at http://aqmen.ac.uk/events/PhD2011; draft programme at http://aqmen.ac.uk/sites/default/files/Draft_programme1.pdf)

This free event is open to all final year PhD students studying in Scotland whose research falls within a social science discipline and which uses intermediate/advanced quantitative methods.  The event is appropriate for students who have completed their data collection and have results that are ready for dissemination, and who wish to develop their skills in presenting data to different audiences.

During this event students will work on their communication and presentation skills and learn about the issues to consider when developing and delivering presentations.  A key focus of the event will be to consider the type of audience you are presenting to, the level of technical detail that should be presented and good practice techniques for presenting quantitative data analysis.

PhD students from outside Edinburgh will be eligible to claim for travel, accommodation and subsistence during the event.  However places are limited, so please consider applying as soon as possible.  Any questions can be sent via the form at http://aqmen.ac.uk/contact.
